Creating a visual masterpiece out of anything, delivering above and beyond, and being a walking Star Wars encyclopedia
Weaknesses
Will avoid small talk at all costs
What do you like to do when you're not working?
“Outside of work I like to work on my more creative and personal projects (that usually end up being more work) or playing video games. I listen to a lot of podcasts and like to kayak, hike, and binge watch TV with my wife. I also like to dabble in mixology (although I rarely make anything good).”
What was your lightbulb moment when it came to video?
“In 2016, my friend Nate documented a trip he and Liam took on the Allagash Waterway in Maine. I got a chance to edit the video with Liam, and we created something I was really proud of. Up until that point I had mostly just messed around with fun skits with my friends, Lego stop animation, or montages of video games. A lot of people really seemed to connect with the video in a way I hadn’t seen before, and that feedback was a huge driving force in me wanting to continue to pursue videography.”
What's a personal accomplishment you're proud of?
“I found a woman who likes my personality AND my face!”
What's a topic you can't talk enough about?
“I get really nerdy about game development. It’s a very niche topic that I’ve been following for the past seven years or so. The construction and design process of video games is fascinating to me, particularly with how many moving parts are involved and how often things go wrong. From small one-man indie teams to huge AAA studios with thousands of employees, I can’t get enough.”
What's the best meal you've ever had?
“On our honeymoon, we went to a fancy restaurant called Cafe Nuovo in Providence. Hands down the best meal we’ve ever had. Lamb and tomato parmesan risotto, with merlot wine and then sorbet with a crunchy caramel shell for dessert.”
What's the worst fashion or hair decision you've ever made?
“In high school I didn’t have my own identity and thought that Doctor Who was pretty cool. So I spiked my hair, adorned square spectacles, and wore bowties and trench coats. Yikes.”
What's your Enneagram number? Do you think it's accurate?
“I’m sort of tied between 4, 5 and 9. 4 is the Individualist. (The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental). 5 is the Investigator (The Intense, Cerebral Type: Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated). 9 is the Peacemaker (The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent)”
What's something people should know about you?
“Sometimes I’m concerningly quiet, and sometimes I can’t shut up. Sometimes I’m incredibly silly, and sometimes I’m reserved and serious. Ultimately, I’m an introvert, and the more I get to know people the more comfortable I feel around them. So please don’t be concerned if I don’t talk very much the first time we meet, or if the second time we meet I’m suddenly a chatterbox, and then after lunch very quiet again.”
What's a funny story that you'll never be able to live down?
“Years ago my friends and I experimented with making our own mead (honey wine), and most of them turned out great! You can use many different liquid bases (like fruit juice) as long as you have honey and yeast. So I thought it would be interesting to follow an ancient recipe for lactomel which uses milk (or more specifically, whey) as the base. So in other words, milk mead. Well, I must’ve messed up the recipe pretty bad, because the final product was an absolute atrocity. Tasted like bad milk mixed with an alcoholic after taste. I stand behind the idea, but the execution was lacking severely and it’s a common funny story brought up in our friend group.”
